Boingo supports Wi-Fi deployment at US Air Force Base

Reliable Wi-Fi connectivity is critical for troops living on base as it allows them to communicate with family and friends, game, stream and more

Boingo Wireless has deployed Wi-Fi services throughout 15 buildings at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California, which houses more than 7,000 active military personnel. The deployment will offer connectivity to those living in the dormitories, according to the tech provider, and is part of the company’s larger partnership with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) to support quality-of-life initiatives with Wi-Fi for troops.

Reliable Wi-Fi connectivity is critical for troops living on base as it allows them to communicate with family and friends, game, stream and more. “Reliable connectivity within the dormitories is essential for enhancing quality of life for our servicemen and women,” confirmed Rebecca Gray, senior vice president and general manager, military at Boingo. “They rely on their smartphones, laptops, smart watches and more to stay connected to family, friends and colleagues. Boingo’s fast, secure Wi-Fi networks make getting online easy and can support multiple devices per user. We’re proud to offer this service to Travis Air Force Base and bases around the globe.”

Boingo provides connectivity to the U.S. military across the globe with a portfolio that contains Wi-Fi and fiber network services. The company not only provides coverage for troops living in the barracks and on-base family housing and for locations on base like gyms, classrooms and offices, but also macro towers and small cells for seamless cellular service and private cellular solutions for connected operations and secure 5G and IoT deployments.

“The thing I love about the venues we work in is they all want a great customer experience and more and more, they understand connectivity is a big deal,” Boingo CEO Mike Finley told RCR Wireless News during Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2023. When it comes to strategy, he shared that the company’s biggest sell is that it is neutral, converged infrastructure provider that takes the “incredibly complex and [makes] it simple.”
