NCTC said AT&T’s network will best serve its members particularly in terms of ‘current network availability and performance’
AT&T is now the exclusive provider of mobile virtual network operator services to the National Content & Technology Cooperative’s (NCTC) nearly 700 rural cable members. According to a press release, the move will allow every NCTC member to “offer a full suite of connectivity services” without building their own network.
“We have successfully crafted a deal that works for all NCTC members with the largest wireless network in America,” said Lou Borrelli, CEO of NCTC. “We are committed to offering full connectivity to any device, inside or outside the home.” He added that AT&T is the “most reliable network,” reflecting further commentary he provided to Light Reading in which he shared that during the selection process, NCTC spoke to multiple mobile network operators, ultimately determining that AT&T’s network best served its members, particularly in terms of “current network availability and performance.”
In February, the NCTC selected Reach to provide foundational cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) support for its mobile program. Reach’s platform, which will support the creation of things like apps and virtual stores, is already compatible with AT&T’s network. According to the NCTC, Reach’s platform enables MVNOs to customize how they market and sell mobile, even allowing them to bundle mobile plans with additional services like home broadband.
Thanks to the partnership with Reach, NCTC said its members will have their own app in the Google Play/App Store and MVNO member company stakeholders will also get real-time analytics to their mobile product offerings to assess performance.
When it comes to the latest news, the cooperative said its members will soon be offered fully customizable white-labeled 4G LTE and 5G mobile services. Members will be able to make use of a “full broadband digitization suite including modules for billing, service provisioning, customer self-service, agent interfaces and more,” it added. Reports indicate that members will begin introducing these mobile services to customers by June.
