The new innovation center at the Samsung headquarters in Plano, Texas explores vRAN, FWA and private 5G

Samsung has opened the doors to a new innovation and briefing center at its headquarters in Plano, Texas. In a press statement, Christine Nelson, senior manager of Samsung Networks Business, wrote that the Samsung Networks Innovation Center will provide an “interactive and collaborative space” for Samsung’s customers and partners to explore technologies that are of particular interest to mobile operators and enterprises, including Virtualized Radio Access Networks (vRAN), Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and private networks.

“The new briefing center is dedicated to providing visitors with a chance to experience Samsung’s networks products up close… These demos showcase Samsung’s advanced 5G network solutions and their role in supporting next-generation applications and services,” said Nelson. “The facility also supports hands-on collaboration among our partners and customers, including a dedicated on-site testing lab to work together on new network innovations and solutions.”

Visitors can see a demonstration of how vRAN technology offers carriers the promise of improved operational efficiency and better flexibility to meet 5G enterprise needs. In other demos, visitors can explore various scenarios of network technologies powering FWA, as well as take part in a digital twin AR experience within an industrial workplace.

The center also features videos detailing the company’s virtualized Core (vCore) solutions and Network Services, while a Radio Access Network (RAN) wall displays various indoor and outdoor network products.

Nelson said that the company found inspiration for what to highlight at the center by considering “the top challenges” facing mobile operators and enterprises today. “This resulted in the creation of a space that is an extension of our lab, providing our customers and partners a place to visit, collaborate and share the latest network technologies as we look to advance 5G applications,” she wrote.
