France and Dutch LoRaWAN groups Kerlink and The Things Industries have announced a partnership to align their hardware and software, respectively, to offer customers zero-touch provisioning for IoT network deployments. The pair said they have developed a ‘plug-and-play’ LoRaWAN package, combining gateways and network server, to “accelerate massive IoT adoption”.
Specifically, Kerlink is bundling its Wirnet i-Series LoRaWAN gateways into the bargain, and LoRaWAN is offering its Things Stacker LoRaWAN server. A statement said: “This combination allows fast and simple network deployments and management because the gateways can be seamlessly onboarded to the LoRaWAN network server without manual configuration.”
The pair listed benefits as: simplified deployment (“gateways come with network settings, security parameters and other necessary configurations”), faster time-to-market (“streamlined provisioning” for streamlined gateway deployments, remote provisioning (“gateways… shipped directly to deployment locations and connected automatically to The Things Stack”), and simplified maintenance and updates (“updates, patches, configuration… pushed remotely to gateways”).
The solution is available via Kerlink’s single-use Magic Link URL, which “automatically runs personalized configuration”.
Wienke Giezeman, chief executive at The Things Industries, said: “This collaborative zero-touch provisioning solution aims to revolutionize the way solution builders design, launch and operate public and private IoT networks worldwide. It resolves the most common concerns customers have when planning their networks: How can they save time and control operational costs, how can they reduce configuration complexity and human errors in deployment, and, of course, how can they scale their network.”
Yann Bauduin, chief sales officer at Kerlink, said: “Fully secured and totally automated, zero-touch provisioning is the easiest way to provision, configure and onboard all Kerlink Wirnet i-Series LoRaWAN gateways, after power up, and it can run personalized configuration on thousands of gateways in minutes. The Things Stack LoRaWAN network server combined with Kerlink gateways ensures security, reliability and scalability in a solution that can accelerate massive IoT adoption globally.”
