As part of the deal, Telstra will also acquire Versent subsidiary Stax, an enterprise self-service management platform
Telstra has solidified the purchase of Melbourne-based cloud services company Versent for $267.5 million. The deal will bolster Telstra Purple, the carrier’s tech services business, while enabling Versent to accelerate growth opportunities in Australia and internationally, according to the companies.
The deal, which is expected to close within six weeks, includes Versent subsidiary Stax, a self-service management platform that allows enterprises to design, build and run their own cloud.
Telstra Enterprise group executive David Burns stated that the acquision of Versent will “bring additional depth” to Telstra, while helping its enterprise customers “maximise their investment in cloud-led transformations.”
Versent has 500 employees, and it offers professional and managed services, along with partnerships with AWS, Microsoft, and security and data vendors. “Versent was founded on a belief that the way technology services were delivered needed to fundamentally change,” said the company’s CEO Paul Migliorini in a press release. “One principle has governed all our activity, that success for Versent is solely a function of our customers’ success. We’ve used this principle to underpin our focus on investing in engineering depth, craft, innovation and a culture that enables the best engineering talent to thrive.”
Telstra’s Purple capabilities were given a previous boost last year with the acquisition of both IoT industrial automation and control systems supplier Alliance Automation and telecoms infrastructure provider Aqura Technologies.
