LAUREL, Md.-Verizon Wireless said it will hire more than 300 customer service representatives to help staff a new $22 million Maryland call center about 12 miles from the company’s regional headquarters in Laurel.
The carrier plans to build a 139,000-square-foot center near the Baltimore suburb of Arundel Mills that will allow it to grow its regional customer service operation from about 500 employees to 1,100. The company is soliciting applicants for 300 new jobs it will fill later this year; it also will move 300 Maryland employees to the center.
“This is a tremendous win for Howard County and the state of Maryland,” said Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.
