LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-Alltel Corp. introduced a new long-distance plan for its wireless customers that makes it cheaper to call outside the United States. Under the carrier’s new plan, users can pay $4 per month for long-distance rates that start at 9 cents per minute for calls to Mexico and top out at 35 cents per minute for calls to countries such as Ecuador and Bermuda. Alltel’s regular international long-distance rates generally range from 65 cents per minute to $4 per minute.
“Alltel’s International Long Distance Value Plan is a great option for wireless customers who regularly place calls from the United States to other countries,” said Ric Crane, Alltel’s vice president of marketing strategy and pricing. “We’re delighted to be able to deliver these very real savings to our customers.”
The long-distance plan is available only to postpaid subscribers.
