LONDON-The Fixed-Mobile Convergence Alliance has contracted with IDC to assess the challenges and opportunities presented by global convergence during the next five years.
The project will support an FMCA workstream designed to assess the market opportunity for fixed-mobile convergence products and services, said the group. IDC will supply the alliance with a variety of services, including providing an industry-standard definition of fixed-mobile convergence services; quantifying the current and future global convergence opportunity and detailing key segments and regional markets; forecasting the total number of convergence subscribers and the market share that convergence will capture of the total telecom sector; and identifying customer-facing convergence offers that will result in the fastest value-maximizing takeup of convergence among business customers and consumers.
