TOKYO—NEC Corp. said it has developed an i-mode phone for Greek operator Cosmote.
The N600i is the company’s first i-mode terminal for an operator outside Japan. The device is a W-CDMA and GSM/GPRS-capable i-mode phone.
The phone is the first product to emerge from NEC’s new third-generation platform strategy, which includes using its own proprietary platforms for high-end flagship 3G models as well as best-of-breed platforms to round out its product range. The N600i is a collaboration between NEC and Ericsson Mobile Platforms.
The phone is a compact clamshell design. It includes a 1.3-megapixel camera, a two-inch 65K QVGA main liquid crystal display, 72-tone polyphonic ringtones, DoJa JAVA applications and connectivity including Bluetooth and USB.
