Verizon adds Motorola handset to Vcast lineup

BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless added a fourth Vcast-enabled CDMA2000 1x EV-DO handset to its lineup with the launch of Motorola Inc.’s E815. In addition to providing access to the carrier’s high-speed wireless network and related multimedia content, the E815 includes a 1.3-megapixel camera, a memory expansion slot and is the first Vcast handset with embedded Bluetooth technology.

The 4.6-ounce handset also includes a 2.2-inch internal screen that supports up to 262,000 colors and a 1.3-inch external screen that supports up to 4,000 colors. Verizon Wireless said the E815 will retail for $100 after a $50 rebate and a 2-year customer agreement.

Verizon Wireless reported last week that its EV-DO network was available in more than 50 major metropolitan areas covering 119 million potential customers.
