REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.-Oracle Corp., the world’s biggest database maker, said it is adding to its portfolio with the acquisition of software developer TimesTen.
Terms of the deal, which is expected to close in July, were not disclosed. The acquisition is Oracle’s fourth since January, when it agreed to buy PeopleSoft for $10.6 billion.
Oracle said TimesTen’s technology provides real-time billing and tracking information for airlines, stock traders and wireless and wireline service providers. TimesTen’s customers in the wireless industry include Amdocs, NEC, Nokia and Sprint.
“This will enable us to provide our customers-such as those in the telecommunications and financial services industries-with instantly responsive and continuously available access to critical transaction data,” said Andrew Mendelsohn, senior vice president of Oracle Database Server Technologies.
