If you’re a social geek like me, then Flipboard is the iPad app you’ve been waiting for, aggregating Facebook, Twitter and other feeds into a very appealing magazine-like style.
The first version of the app personalizes one’s feeds primarily based on Re-Tweets and sharing activities of the user, wonderfully optimized into a simple, enjoyable user interface which makes reading one’s social news effortless and enjoyable.
The biggest asset is the automated fetching of content behind the links in your social networks, which shows the user the content of the URL directly and saves a lot of time when browsing a stream.
At the moment, Flipboard is only using content considered ‘free’ but if you ask us, we can already see the potential for brands and paid content vendors to join the experience and reach out to customers through the app.
For a much more in depth view of the app and its capabilities, you can take a look at this rather long 20 minutes video interview with the Flipboard CEO to understand the thinking and strategy behind the app:
Personally speaking, I’ve been using the app for only a short while but have already became a big fan. Looking forward to even more personalized streams in the next version.
