VANCOUVER, British Columbia-ADC Telecommunications Inc. has licensed PCS Wireless Inc.’s in-building distributed antenna array product line, Cellular MEX/BEX.
MEX/BEX is a low power, radio frequency signal repeater that extends distribution of RF signals from base stations or cell repeaters, said PCS Wireless. The product allows carriers to increase coverage at a lower cost than installing more base stations, said the company.
ADC will pay an initial license fee of $750,000 plus a three-year royalty, under the agreement. MEX/BEX will be incorporated under ADC’s CityRFx brand name for cellular applications and under the Millennium brand name for personal communications services applications.
PCS Wireless expects to release its PCS version of the MEX/BEX distributed antenna array products within the next three months.
“Manufacturing the MEX/BEX in-house is one more step in integrating this solution into our product line and our existing sales and technical services,” stated Mike Larimore, general manager of ADC’s Wireless Systems Division.
ADC was provided the option to license PCS Wireless’ distributed antenna array technology in an agreement formed in January.
