TEL AVIV, Israel-Nexus Telocation Systems Ltd. announced SingTel Paging launched commercial two-way paging and telemetry data service in Singapore using the Nexus system.
SingTel is upgrading its one-way system, which uses Motorola Inc. and Glenayre Technologies Inc. equipment supporting POCSAG and FLEX paging protocols. The new system currently provides a return channel for POCSAG pagers and will be adapted to provide a return channel for FLEX “as soon as small-size FLEX-Nexus two-way pagers become available from Samsung later this year,” said Nexus President and Chief Executive Officer Ammon Shefi.
The contract between Nexus and SingTel was signed last March. While the equipment was being built, interface software was developed by a small SingTel-Nexus team, said Nexus. Installation and integration of the Nexus system began in July, followed by real-time testing. After a short break-in period during the first quarter of this year, the system is now in commercial service, said Nexus.
