Youth most interested in mobile music services

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Wireless users in the youth and young adult segment showed strong interest in using wireless entertainment and multimedia services, according to a new market research report by The Management Network Group Inc.

The study polled 1,000 people between the ages of 13 and 34 earlier this year to gauge interest in forthcoming broadband multimedia services and the willingness of users in that category to pay for services.

According to the study, male consumers in the 13- to 24-year-old group showed the most interest in multimedia wireless service. Music topped the list of services respondents were interested in, followed by multiplayer three-dimensional games and mobile television and video.

In addition, about 40 percent of respondents said they would be interested in receiving commercially supported video clip services. One-quarter of respondents also said they would be likely to switch carriers to access certain multimedia content and services.
