JERUSALEM-Hutchison Whampoa is considering listing its Israeli mobile phone unit, Partner Communications Co. Ltd., in London or on the Nasdaq National Market to secure financing to expand its network, according to a report in the Financial Times.
GSM 900 operator Partner operates under the Orange plc brand name and had about 150,000 subscribers in June. As the country’s third operator, it competes with incumbents Motorola Inc.-led Pele-Phone Communications Ltd. and BellSouth Corp.-led CellCom Israel Ltd., with about 1 million and 1.2 million subscribers, respectively.
