TELECORP LOSS TOTALS $23.4M

ARLINGTON, Va.-TeleCorp PCS Inc. reported revenues for the second quarter ended June 30 of $17.1 million. TeleCorp’s net loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization was $23.4 million.

TeleCorp PCS said it had 30,970 personal communications service subscribers at the end of the second quarter, an increase of 22,165 from the end of the first quarter. As of Aug. 16, the company had more than 50,000 PCS subscribers.

“We launched 15 markets in five months, beginning with our commercial start in New Orleans on Feb. 4,” said Gerald T. Vento, chairman and chief executive officer.

TeleCorp began digital service in 10 markets during the quarter, including Fayetteville, Ark.; Nashua, Manchester and Concord, N.H.; Worcester, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, Mass.; Lafayette, La.; and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
