OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Sprint PCS has restructured categories on its games deck in an effort to make it easier for customers to find and buy mobile games.
New listings on the deck include categories for casual titles, traditional console-type games, titles that can be played quickly and Sprint-exclusive games. The carrier said it will continue to use its current deck format for game listings.
“Sprint works closely with its game partners to provide a variety of high-quality games that will interest gamers of all ages and skill levels,” said Jason Ford, general manager of games for Sprint. “The new categories will make it easier for customers to find what they want and will benefit our game partners by giving their games more visibility with listings in multiple categories.”
Sprint also unveiled a series of three-dimensional games designed for play on new multimedia handsets. Four 3D games involving golf, billiards and snowboarding are available today, and Sprint plans to release six more 3D games in the next few months.
Finally, the carrier said it will bring PC-to-mobile multiplayer titles from Yahoo! Games’ Internet portal to its Game Lobby. The first game, Yahoo! Poker, will be available on Sprint handsets in mid-June; other titles will follow.
The Game Lobby, which is powered by M7 Networks, allows members to post high scores, rate and review games, and chat with other players. The forum boasts more than 500,000 players, according to Sprint, and includes 67 games.
