SANTIAGO, Chile-The Global System for Mobile communications Association launched a new security initiative that it hopes will further enhance the integrity of its operator members’ networks.
The Security Accreditation Scheme will standardize the level of security compliance throughout the industry, maximizing the reliability and efficiency of security measures while protecting second- and third-generation GSM operators’ interests, the association explained.
“The inherent security of the GSM system has been fundamental to its global success,” said James Moran, fraud and security director for the GSM Association. “The primary purpose of the SAS is to set down stringent security standards to ensure the continued integrity of the GSM system.”
