LONDON-Webraska Mobile Technologies, a provider of traffic maps and navigation services on Internet mobile phones, is opening access to its Global Navigation Server to wireless carriers, their partners and wireless location platform providers.
The company said seamless access via the Internet to its server will be provided by a “personal navigation” application programming interface that will offer alphanumeric address entry and qualifications using the telephone keypad; street-level maps that can be adjusted to all screen sizes and formats; door-to-door directions that take into account one-way streets, traffic conditions and public transportation networks; and enhanced spatial searching based on shortest journey time rather than shortest distance.
“Opening access to our servers allows us to respond to the tremendous demand of wireless carriers and wireless location solution providers to embed mapping and intelligent spatial searching in all their applications,” said Jean-Michel Durocher, chief executive officer of Webraska.
The initial launch of the server will support 14 European countries, with rollout to Asia-Pacific and North America planned for the second half of the year.
