ECI to supply fixed wireless system in Brazil

PETAH TIKVA, Israel-InnoWave ECI Wireless Systems Ltd. said it will supply fixed wireless access systems to Global Village Telecom in Brazil through a supply agreement valued at up to $165 million. In addition, ECI Telecom Ltd., InnoWave’s parent company, is investing $35 million in GVT Holding NV, GVT’s parent company.

GVT plans to provide Internet, data and telephony services to residential and business subscribers in south and central Brazil. The company holds a TCS “mirror” license to supply a region covering a population of 38 million in nine states, including Brasilia, the country’s capital. GVT plans to offer more than 700,000 lines during the next three years through an $800 million investment.

ECI’s MultiGain wireless systems will support packet-switch “always-on” Internet services and traditional telephone services, the company said.
