Gaming portal Boonty to offer 1,000 wireless titles

NEW YORK-Gaming portal Boonty Inc. joined the stampede to mobile, announcing plans to offer more than 1,000 downloadable titles for wireless users.

Users will be able to buy games from the Internet-based storefront and have a download link sent to their handset via a WAP push. Charges could be added to the carrier’s bill, or a gamer could pay with a credit card or prepaid service.

Games will be compatible with major handset manufacturers and platforms including Java, BREW, i-mode, Pocket PC and Symbian. The company said it expects strong demand among third-generation users in Asia, Europe and the United States.

“By serving as content aggregator and offering an extensive catalog of titles under a simplified Web interface, Boonty is doing the same thing for games-on-the-go as we have done for the downloadable PC games market,” said Romain Nouzareth, Boonty’s chief executive officer.
