Telesp awards fixed wireless deal

TOKYO-NEC do Brasil won a contract with Telesp to supply a CDMA-based fixed wireless access system for Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The deal is valued at $260 million.

The system will allow Telesp to install fixed-line capacity to meet targets set for it by the Brazilian government of 2003.

NEC provided Telesp with 33,000 lines for the same system last year. The two orders together are the largest order for the CDMA-based fixed-wireless access system for NEC.
