SAN FRANCISCO-The Body Shop, which sells skin and hair care products, launched a national wireless phone collection and recycling program along with the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Wireless Foundation.
Phones can be dropped off at the retailer’s stores through Aug. 31. Donated phones will be sold, refurbished or recycled, and proceeds will go to the NCADV and the Wireless Foundation. In addition, phones will be distributed to 200 women’s shelters.
The initiative has garnered supported from hip-hop music star Missy Elliott as well as a pledge of help from Amnesty International.
