MIAMI, United States—Brightstar announced that its recently released second quarter 2001 revenues show it has captured the market share lead in Latin American wireless outsourcing.
Brightstar’s consolidated revenues came to US$102.6 million and its income was US$2.8 million for the quarter, which the company said makes it the biggest and most profitable wireless distributor in Latin America. “This success in Latin America is a tribute to our strategic partnerships with vendors and customers,” said R. Marcelo Claure, Brightstar’s president and chief executive officer.
The company’s chief competitors, CellStar and Brightpoint, reported second quarter revenues for their Latin American regions of US$98.6 million and US$68.8 million, respectively.
