Motorola wins GSM deal in India

NEW DELHI, India—Motorola Inc. said it has won a $178 million contract to supply GSM mobile equipment to India’s state-owned carrier BSNL for 1.4 million subscribers.

“It’s for turnkey deployment of networks, which we’ll have to set up in the next six-to-eight months,” said Pramod Saxena, country manager for Motorola’s Indian operations.
