U.S. Wireless Online closes on iSkywire, inks marketing deal with with Lightyear

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-Fixed-wireless operator U.S. Wireless Online Inc. said it closed its acquisition of iSkywire L.L.C., and also entered a three-year exclusive wholesale marketing agreement with Lightyear Network Solutions L.L.C.

Iskywire offers broadband wireless Internet service in Louisville, Ky., and Southern Indiana. It is U.S. Wireless Online’s eighth acquisition.

Lightyear provides telecom services to commercial and residential customers. The agreement calls for Lightyear to promote and sell U.S. Wireless’ broadband service to its customers in exchange for preferred wholesale pricing and performance-based equity participation, said the company. Lightyear has agreed to sell at least 1,000 Business Class wireless broadband circuits during the first year of the agreement, 2,500 during the second year and 4,000 during the third year.

If minimum sales numbers are met, U.S. Wireless estimates the agreement will provide $2.2 million the first year, $5.5 million the second year and $8.8 million in the third year.
