Red-M showcases mobile workgroup offering

WEXHAM SPRINGS, U.K.—Red-M will demonstrate its wireless Portable Office Solution, a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS)-based system aimed at the mobile workgroup market.

The portable office offers connectivity back to corporate local area networks (LANs) and the Internet via GPRS support, while 802.11 wireless LAN and Bluetooth technology connect laptops and PDAs to corporate networks. It also includes a virtual private network (VPN) facility for improved security.

“The mobile workgroup market is largely untapped today,” explained Simon Gawne, vice president and co-founder of Red-M. “By providing these users with a way to rapidly and easily create a shared office environment, with secure connectivity to their company’s resources and the Internet, mobile network operators can consequently dramatically increase the usage of their GPRS networks.”
