Motorola confirms GSM contract win in Thailand

HONG KONG—Motorola Inc. said it signed a $253 million agreement to supply GSM 1800 MHz network equipment to TA Orange in Thailand.

The deal includes radio access equipment and related integration services for a turnkey system.

“With this being the initial investment for TA Orange in Asia, we are proud to partner with such a highly regarded infrastructure provider as Motorola,” said Richard Moat, chief executive officer of TA.

TA Orange plans to begin services this year, with nationwide services expected by the end of 2002. The operator is owned 49 percent by Orange plc, 41 percent by TelecomAsia and 10 percent by CP Group.
