WASHINGTON-The Federal Communications Commission issued a clarification, saying it will accept applications for certification of mobiles phones tested and rated under either a 2001 standard or the revised draft standard “American National Standard for Methods of Measurement of Compatibility between Wireless Communication Devices and Hearing Aids, ANSI C63.19-2005.”
The FCC said the action should help wireless vendors and mobile-phone carriers meet a Sept. 16 deadline for providing hearing-aid compatible handsets that comply with radio-frequency interference requirements.
