NEW YORK—Cue Corp., which provides FM subcarrier messaging and data services throughout North American, said it has partnered with Sensoria Corp. to broadcast real-time traffic information to car radios and to Compaq iPAQ handheld computers.
The traffic information is delivered to Sensoria’s mGate over CUE’s subcarrier network of 600 radio stations, and mGate then retransmits the data via 802.11b networks to the iPAQ via Sensoria’s mGate vehicle gateway. The gateway also forwards the traffic information to the car radio, which delivers the information by voice using text-to-speech technology.
Cue, headquartered in Irvine, Calif., serves 65 markets in the United States, and recently announced it extended its services to Canada through an affiliation with Rogers Communication Inc., Toronto.
San Diego-based Sensoria develops wireless embedded systems, networks and technology. It has another new partnership, with MechanicNet, to provide an in-vehicle diagnostic service to monitor data from on-board systems and to alert drivers. The same information can be forwarded to automotive service dealers.
