Yankee Group, Sentori see emergence of niche MVNO market

ORLANDO, Fla.—The Yankee Group and Sentori Inc. announced an emerging niche within the MVNO wireless market space during a press conference at CTIA Wireless 2002 earlier this week.

The new niche players, mainly affinity and specialty channel MVNOs, offer billing and customer care options to North American solution providers. “In working with some of our billing clients it became apparent that affinity organizations and specialty channels providing wireless services to their customers have unique business models that are attractive to large wireless carries seeking new markets in which to sell their products and services,” said Vincent Vu, chief executive officer of Sentori.

The companies said they expect niche MVNOs to capture up to 10 percent of North American wireless subscribers by 2005 and generate up to $7 billion in revenues.
