QuickSilver Technology cuts 40 percent of workers

SAN JOSE, Calif.—Digital integrated circuit technology company QuickSilver Technology Inc. cut 40 percent of its work force in response to its changing business situation and in an effort to stay competitive in a tight economic environment.

Company spokeswoman Aggie Frizzell said QuickSilver is transitioning from developing technology to supplying its technology to handset makers, and as a result more than half of the cuts are engineering positions. Further, she said, the company needs to be cautious in the down economy.

“We need to take that conservative approach,” she said.

After the cuts, the company will have 65 employees, she said.

QuickSilver, founded in 1998, works to design and sell digital integrated circuit technology for mobile devices.
