WASHINGTON—The American Mobile Telecommunications Association has been chosen to manage a new trade group representing broadband-minded electric utilities. The Power Line Communications Association will be run by Alan Shark, president of AMTA.
PLCA, which promotes electric grids and inside wiring in homes and businesses for high-speed Internet access, said the new technology can increase broadband deployment, improve energy efficiency and strengthen national security through redundancy of critical infrastructure.
The arrangement helps AMTA, whose dispatch radio membership has steadily dwindled in recent years because of industry consolidation.
