Emblaze wins exclusive handset deal with U.K. MVNO

LONDON-Emblaze Mobile, a handset design and manufacturing company, said it will be the exclusive provider of handsets for U.K. mobile virtual network operator ROK Mobile.

Emblaze said it will work with ROK, part of mobile entertainment company ROK Entertainment Group, to define the handsets, which will be bundled with preloaded content on memory cards and sold through distributions channels. The first branded handsets are expected to hit the market in August.

ROK is aiming for 250,000 subscriptions within a year and 1 million customers in three years.

“We work with our customers to develop devices to appeal to a defined market with applications, content and customized user experiences that will actually make people want to use the phone for more than just calls and SMS,” said Laurence Alexander, chief executive officer of Emblaze Mobile.
