NEW YORK-Cingular Wireless, which launched service in the New York metropolitan area, opened its flagship store here July 11 on Fifth Avenue and East 47th Street, a few blocks from Rockefeller Center, where the carrier also opened the “Cingular Zone,” described as an “experiential space.”
The Fifth Avenue location is the first of at least 200 Cingular Wireless retail locations that the nation’s second-largest mobile operator plans in the greater New York City area within two years, saidStephen Carter, president and chief executive officer, was at a press conference.
The Cingular Zone in Rockefeller Center features a “Live Bar” where visitors may make free wireless calls anywhere in the country or try short messaging service. There also is an “Express Yourself” station where people can decorate their own versions of the Cingular icon.
