SEATTLE-First Data Corp. announced it developed a new product, dubbed PocketMerchant, which allows merchants to use a mobile phone or Palm OS handheld as a point-of-sale terminal for accepting electronic payments.
Aether Systems also will act as a host for PocketMerchant.
“The simple and convenient application that PocketMerchant provides-the ability to accept and verify a secure credit card payment via mobile phones and Palm OS-based handhelds-will help companies in many industries increase efficiency and expand sales opportunities,” said Aether President George Davis.
