BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Flarion Technologies Inc., Bedminster, N.J., has contracted with Flextronics, an outsourced manufacturer of telecommunications equipment, to produce its RadioRouter and PC card products for interoperability between wireless local area networks and cellular networks.
In its Sept. 19 announcement, Flarion said it plans to release its product specifications to Flextronics in December and expects manufacture for commercial sales to begin early next year.
Previously, Flarion announced chipset manufacturing alliances with Phillips and Texas Instruments.
“Flarion’s superior data rates are likely to be created at a much lower cost compared to conventional 3G, which could give carriers that adopt the Flarion solution a distinct marketing advantage with higher-spending business customers,” said Ned Zachar, director of telecom services research at Thomas Weisel Partners, a brokerage firm.
