STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson said it has signed two separate mobile network contracts in Latin America. The value of the contracts was not released.
Ericsson signed a contract to supply GSM/GPRS equipment and services for PCS Digital in Nicaragua for its 1900 MHz network.
“The new network will offer value-added services such as short message services, voice mail and prepaid,” said Ericsson in a press release.
In addition, Ericsson was selected as the sole supplier for BellSouth Colombia’s new cdma2000 1x network. Ericsson will overlay an end-to-end 1x network on the operator’s existing TDMA network.
