Company wins award for routing accidental 999 calls

LONDON-Damovo said it won the Nabarro Nathanson Most Effective Use of Technology in a Project award for developing the Metropolitan Police Service’s Silent Solution which routes silent 999-the U.K. version of 911-calls to an auto attendant before routing genuine calls to a real person.

“Accidental calls from mobile phones put a great strain on our 999 service. The Silent Solution has allowed our operators to dedicate their time to genuine 999 calls and has created cost savings in the region of 6 million pounds (US$9.2 million) per year for the Metropolitan Police Service and other U.K. police forces,” said Superintendent Barry Clark.
