TOKYO-Oracle Japan and NTT DoCoMo have jointly developed a new system that lets corporate users distribute in-company information to personal digital assistants (PDAs) in real time, the firms jointly announced.
Using the system, companies will be able to develop their own mobile networks within three to six months with a total cost of 30 billion yen (US$250.6 million) to 40 billion yen (US$334 million), which they described as almost half of an ordinary development cost.
Tokyo Mitsubishi Bank, a leading city bank, and Shiseido, a leading cosmetic manufacturer/provider, will use the system on an experimental basis. Oracle Japan will provide software, while NTT DoCoMo will provide its content distribution for the new system. NS Solution will serve as the solution vendor.
