SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-Motorola Inc. said it will use Texas Instruments Inc.’s 802.11 wireless networking and OMAP application processors for its Wi-Fi and cellular dual-system phone.
Motorola said TI’s processors will work with its 1.250 platform.
“Converging cellular, wireless local area networking and Internet Protocol telephony networks, the dual-system phones will be at the heart of a seamless mobility solution that will be standards based and support contiguous voice and data service to users across networks,” said Motorola.
In other TI news, the company said it has introduced 1.2-A DC/DC converters to extend battery life in wireless personal digital assistants, notebooks and broadband equipment.
“The converters reduce board space by integrating all necessary switching transistors and operating at a fixed frequency of 1.25 MHz to help minimize inductor size,” said TI.
