NEW YORK-Tele2 AB said it acquired a GSM 900 MHz license in the Republic of Udmurtia, Russia, in addition to its current GSM 1800 MHz license there. The new license will allow the Swedish operator to implement GSM services more cost effectively in the city of Izhevsk and the surrounding area, Tele2 said.
Tele2 currently has GSM operations in four Russian regions. Udmurtia has a 1.6 million population and is located in the Western part of the Middle Urals.
