LONDON-By 2008, more than 40 percent of mobile-equipped employees will wirelessly check company e-mail, calendars and contact data, according to research firm Analysys.
“Increasing revenue will come from general Web access over mobile networks, but this alone will not be enough to convince businesses to start using mobile data service,” said Analysys’ Katrina Bond, adding that information technology mangers are reluctant to release control of e-mail databases to wireless carriers.
However, the firm believes that during the next five years employees will increasingly access personal information managers (PIMs) via mobile phones, as well as browse the Web and access customized work force software, like sales-force automation systems.
