AT&T Wireless launches first Microsoft-based phone to U.S. market

REDMOND, Wash.-AT&T Wireless and Motorola, Inc. announced nationwide availability of the Motorola MPx200, a Microsoft Windows Mobile-based smart phone for the North American market.

The phone is available for $299.99 with any compatible AT&T Wireless service plan. AT&T Wireless said that when combined with its mMode service, the Motorola MPx200 allows its customers to bring the features of their Windows-centric office with them out of the office.

Users can access Microsoft Outlook contacts, inbox, calendar and transfer files from a PC to the Motorola MPx200 using a mini USB connection, wireless Internet service or IrDA port. AT&T Wireless also said its over-the-air provisioning is a scalable and secure means of accessing information behind corporate firewalls.

The device is the first phone based on the Microsoft operating system in the U.S. market.
