TESSCO founder Barnhill dies at 86

BALTIMORE-Industry pioneer and founder of TESSCO Technologies Inc. Robert Barnhill Sr. died Oct. 16 at the age of 86.

Barnhill’s involvement in the radio industry began in 1942 when he was in the Navy. He later worked for Aireon and Bendix Corp. on the transportation industry’s adoption of two-way radios. In 1952, he founded Barnhill & Associates and T.E.S.S.C.O., Towson Engineering Sales & Service Company, which evolved into TESSCO Technologies Inc.

Barnhill is survived by his wife, one daughter and three sons, including Robert Barnhill Jr., the current chief executive officer of TESSCO.
