LOS GATOS, Calif.-Wisair Inc. said it will offer a royalty-free intellectual property for its ultra-wideband solution if the multi-band OFDM standard wins the battle for approval.
Texas Instruments made a similar announcement Monday.
Both companies belong to the Multi-band OFDM Alliance, which is up against the Motorola/XtremeSpectrum Inc. group that supports a single band. Motorola has acquired XSI, which also announced its plan to license its intellectual property.
“We are developing UWB chips and solutions which will fulfill the market requirements based on the upcoming standard,” said David Yaish, president and chief executive officer of Wisair.
