LOS ANGELES-Rock the Vote, a non-profit, non-partisan group aimed at engaging young adults in the political process, and Motorola Inc. will launch Rock the Mobile Vote today, in conjunction with Super Tuesday.
Through the program, young adults will be polled on their views on issues and candidate preference on a bi-weekly basis via SMS and text messages. Participants will also receive mobile updates on political news, issues and candidates. Rock the Vote hopes to bring 20 million young voters to the polls in November through the program. Mobile phone users can opt-in to the program at www.rockthevote.com/wireless.
“With the creation of the Rock the Mobile Vote campaign, Motorola is building on our heritage of influencing pop culture through technology, adding another historic milestone for the company,” said Jason Few, vice president of marketing with Motorola’s mobile handset business. “Combining our mobile technology expertise with Rock the Vote’s innovative youth programming positions the campaign to engage young voters, potentially impacting the future of the political process as we know it.”
