LONDON-Mobile software developer Amplefuture unveiled a new offering that allows music providers to market and deliver tunes directly to wireless users.
Amplefuture said it will market Pocket Player to companies looking to launch their own branded digital music download services to handsets and PCs. The technology includes digital rights management options that support Open Mobile Alliance standards, and a billing system allowing consumers to pay via short message service, premium telephony, or credit cards.
The software also allows users to move music files between PCs and phones. Amplefuture, which also provides ringtone services for Internet service providers, said it is working to make the technology compatible with more handsets.
“Pocket Player has the potential to revolutionize the distribution of music and provide consumers with an easy way to download and listen to music on their mobile phones instead of separate MP3 devices, said Derek Byrne, Amplefuture’s chief executive officer.
