NEW YORK-TV broadcasting giants ABC and NBC continued to target wireless users with two partnerships unveiled Tuesday.
ABC said it will team with mobile content provider Proteus to deliver ringtones, graphics and premium text messages based on the “Alias,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and daytime soap operas. Users can shop for content from their handsets via a Web-based storefront promoted on ABC.com or can access content via short codes.
The companies plan to expand the offerings to include trivia games, chat applications and video clips.
Meanwhile, AEGF Mobile Games inked a deal to offer a suite of wireless games featuring the NBC Sports brand. AEGF, which is a joint venture between Abandon Entertainment and GF Capital Management & Advisors, will use NBC content to develop and market games, some of which will be directly interactive with NBC Sports broadcasts.
“The explosive growth in the mobile-gaming marketplace is starting to mirror that of online gaming, and armed with powerful, household brands such as NBC Sports, we’re confident that we can capture the imagination of a new breed of gamer,” said Marcus Ticotin of AEGF.
